The Laboratory of Aging Biology (LaBE), a member of the Obesity and Comorbidities Research Center (OCRC) of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, offers a postdoctoral fellowship position in a project aimed at Exploring Obesity and Related Comorbidities at the Single-Cell Level. The OCRC is one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (CEPIDs) supported by FAPESP (Sao Paulo Research Foundation). By putting together basic scientists, bioinformaticians, community engagers, surgeons and clinicians interested in developing new therapies to treat obesity, the OCRC provides a benchmark for translational research to take place. One of the bench-to-bedside initiatives taking place at the OCRC include the
identification of new biomarkers for metabolic diseases based on state-of-the-art technology
such as single-cell RNA sequencing. We are recruiting a candidate to conduct these studies. The candidate is expected to: i) collaborate in the logistics and procedures involving human
subject studies, ii) collect, process and analyze human samples, iii) establish the bridge
between the clinical setting and the molecular biology lab, and iv) conduct studies using single-
cell analyses such as single-cell RNA sequencing, flow cytometry, microscopy and/or spatial transcriptomics. Candidates must have completed their PhD; have experience in molecular and cell biology; preferentially with previous experience conducting studies with human subjects. We expect candidates to work in a multidisciplinary environment and be proactive and collaborative. The project will be conducted under the supervision of Marcelo A. Mori, PhD. The fellowship will be funded by FAPESP under the OCRC budget and has an initial timetable of 24 months, scheduled to begin as soon as possible.
