Postdoctoral Training Fellow – Translational Immunotherapy

The objective of this post is to work within the Translational Immunotherapy team (led by Prof Alan Melcher) on pre-clinical modelling of the human immune response to cancer and its treatment. The work will involve a range of immune assays, including immunogenomics, FACS, and functional immune assays, for example measuring the T cell response to tumour-associated antigens and peptide epitopes. The post is closely aligned with the Targeted Therapies Team (lead Prof Kevin Harrington), as well as our Centre for Translational Immunotherapy and RadNet network. Our primary areas of interest in this project are focused in HPV positive head and neck and melanoma, and oncolytic virotherapy and radiotherapy as potentially immunogenic treatment modalities.

We are seeking a creative and motivated Postdoctoral Training Fellow to study the activation of human anti-tumour T cell responses using pre-clinical in vitro assays. The nature of the post is primarily research-centred (immunology, cancer biology). Responsibilities will further include day-to-day support of other team members in research activities related to the above areas and participation in collaborations.

A PhD in a biological science subject is required, and the applicants need to demonstrate extensive experience with cell culture and immunological assays.

This position is offered on a fixed-term 2 year contract. Starting salary is in the range of £38,607 to £41,718 per annum (£32,844 as a starting salary for pre-viva applicants, awaiting PhD award after thesis submission) inclusive based on previous postdoctoral experience. The position is based at the ICR site in Chelsea.
