Research Fellow in Nanoparticle Manufacturing
UCL Department / Division : Chemical Engineering
Location of position : London
Grade : 7
Hours : Full Time
Salary (inclusive of London allowance) : £35,965 - £38,993 per annum
Duties and Responsibilities
Applications are invited by highly talented researchers for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position under the supervision of Prof Asterios Gavriilidis in the dept. of Chemical Engineering at UCL to work on nanoparticle synthesis and manufacturing. The goal is to develop robust scalable manufacturing routes for nanoparticles to be used in healthcare and nanomedicine.
The successful applicant will join a highly motivated group working at the interface of chemical engineering, chemistry, materials, and nanomedicine. The post-holder will undertake experimental and theoretical work in determining nanoparticle synthesis kinetics and designing and evaluating unit operations and continuous processes for the formation of nanoparticles and will be expected to contribute to the design and implementation of the research strategy.
The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.
Key Requirements
Applicants must be able to demonstrate commitment to high-quality research and proven research skills. In particular, knowledge and experience in nanoparticle synthesis, nanoparticle characterisation, chemical reaction engineering, continuous processing, flow chemistry, modelling reaction and transport processes (mass and heat transfer, mixing, computational fluid dynamics, multiphase flows), microfluidics, and multi-disciplinary working would be an advantage. Candidates should have published work in international journals.
Candidates must have excellent communication and team-working skills, the ability to write reports of high standard and work collaboratively with colleagues to generate high-quality research outputs.
The successful candidate must have (or be in the process of submitting) a Ph.D. in Chemical/Process/Systems Engineering, or cognate discipline.
