    Fixed Term Contract 3 years

Applications are invited for a 3 year Postdoctoral Research Associate position in a group led by Dr Fiona Lewis-McDougall working on a British Heart Foundation-funded research project ‘Therapeutic potential of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiac progenitor cells: Direct comparison with endogenous cardiac progenitor cells from the same patients'. The project will investigate the therapeutic potential of iPSC-derived cardiac progenitor cells and directly compare them to endogenous cardiac progenitor cells isolated from the same patients. The candidate will use a range of molecular biology techniques to compare both populations and assess their regenerative potential both in vitro and in vivo. Candidates should be highly motivated and have obtained a PhD in Molecular/Cellular Biology or a related area. A strong background in cardiac or stem cell biology is essential.

The project will take place within the Centre for Microvascular Research, which is internationally recognised for its research investigating the molecular and cellular events within the microvasculature, myocardial repair and stem cell therapy. The Centre has established expertise in tissue regeneration, inflammation, pharmacology and innovative therapeutics and offers newly refurbished laboratories with excellent facilities, including a state-of-the-art confocal suite located in the heart of City of London.

The post is full-time and fixed for 3 years. Starting salary will be £34,220 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, a pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Fiona Lewis-McDougall ([email protected]).
