    Cardiometabolic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease represent an important financial burden in developed and developing countries. New disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets need to be identified and validated to improve the health of individuals at high risk for chronic cardiometabolic disease. The objective of this project is to identify and validate new genes and therapeutic targets for a broad range of cardiometabolic diseases and healthspan using multi-omic and big data approaches (genomics, transcriptomics [RNA sequencing] and proteomics). For that purpose, will use combine tissue and blood samples from the Biobank of the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute as well as publicly available datasets of large-scale human genetics studies. This project will identify and validate novel biological and psychosocial determinants of cardiometabolic diseases, human lifespan and healthspan and identify new therapeutic targets that could one day be used to prolong life and promote healthy living into old age. The interaction between genetic variants and lifestyle-related factors will also be investigated.
    Requirements for applicants:

    - Have a Ph.D. in a field related to biomedical sciences;
    - Ability to speak and write in English;
    - Be interested in human genetics and big data approaches;
    - Be interested in working with bioinformatics tools;
    - Have authored or co-authored peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts
