Postdoctoral Scientist – Protein Nucleic Acid Chemistry

We are looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Scientist to work with Dr John Sutherland on the origin of life.
The project will involve investigation of prebiotic building block oligomerisation chemistries. The prebiotic studies will be supported by comparison to conventionally synthesised oligoribonucleotides and peptides (and derivatives thereof) along with state of the art chemical and biophysical analysis.
You will have a PhD in organic or bioorganic chemistry, or be due to complete your doctoral studies within 6 months of applying. Ideally, you will also have experience with synthetic and analytical organic and bioorganic chemistry and an interest in the origin and early evolution of life.
The successful applicant will be awarded a three year Career Development Fellowship / Postdoctoral training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a post-doctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
