    A rewarding opportunity is currently available for a highly motivated researcher to provide leadership, project management, and initiate, develop and lead projects driving the development of low cost, sustainable, automated production technologies.

    One appointment will be made at either USQ Academic Level B or USQ Academic Level C depending on your qualifications and experience.

    What you’ll do

    Reporting to the Director (Centre for Future Materials), you will initiate, develop and lead projects on thermoset composites manufacturing, focused on advanced pultrusion technologies to drive the development of low cost, sustainable, automated production technologies, servicing the aerospace, automotive, marine, wind energy, defence and civil sectors. In doing so, you will:
    •provide a high level of expertise in thermoset composite materials and manufacturing technologies;
    •conduct experimental and/or modelling based research
    •supervise postgraduate research students in polymer composites;
    •contribute to and develop research proposals for submission to external funding providers;
    •publish research findings in high quality journal publications;
    •establish and build collaborative research partnerships with a variety of stakeholders;
    •promote research activities and outputs within the broader community.

    What will help you succeed?

    Your energy and initiative, combined with your knowledge regarding thermoset composites manufacturing will be vital to your success in this role. In addition, you will have:
    •a relevant PhD and a demonstrated track record of research expertise in thermoset composites manufacturing, particularly in reference to the experimental and/or simulation development for pultrusion processing and permeability will be highly regarded;
    •a demonstrated ability to supervise postgraduate research students;
    •a high level of scientific communication skills, as demonstrated by a strong publication record and engagement in national and international conferences;
    •an ability to engage effectively with the composites community and other key external stakeholders.

    At the higher level, you will have advanced qualifications and/or recognised substantial experience which includes a significant achievement record in initiating and delivering multi-disciplinary research projects at a national level, an established record of attracting ongoing research funding and experience in successfully leading research teams.

    Salary for Level B: Total remuneration range $110,305 to $130,377 pa (includes salary range of $93,205 to $110,165 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)

    Salary for Level C: Total remuneration range $134,388 to $154,460 pa (includes salary range of $113,554 to $130,515 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
