You will be educated to PhD level in a relevant area of biology / zoology / aquaculture / biochemistry / health diagnostics and preferably have some practical experience of the aquaculture industry. Work will require the collection of samples from our partner aquaculture facilities, the processing of these samples for haematological and biomarker analysis for the standardisation, assessment and validation of rapid, automated haematological methods for salmon blood, and the integration of this haematology data with relevant endpoints on fish health and disease for the identification and assessment of anaemia in salmon aquaculture.

The research will be carried out within the School of Health and Life Sciences in UWS and in collaboration with our academic and industry partners. You will be joining a team of academic staff, postgraduate research students and experts from industry working in this area and will be based in the Paisley Campus.
