Evaluations and Interventions Officer – Ageing and public health



    Reporting to: Director of Ageing Division
    Salary: £25,167 - £34,218
    €38,133 - €51,847
    Duration: 24 months
    Location: Belfast or Dublin, but the successful candidate will be expected to travel between both our offices and throughout Ireland (North and South) in the delivery of this role.
    Summary of main duties:
    Working at a strategic level this post will work in the area of evaluations and interventions as well as evidence, data and research syntheses relevant to ageing and public health.
    1. To undertake evidence syntheses to inform policy and practice relating to ageing and public health.
    2. To identify evaluation models most relevant to assessing impact of programmes, policy and services relating to public health and ageing.
    3. To advise and assist with evaluations of selected Government policy and programmes.
    4. Using evaluative methodologies to assess the impact of selected Government and non-Government interventions relevant to public health and ageing.
    5. To collate and analysis secondary data (qualitative and quantitative) relating to ageing and public health.
    6. To produce briefings on selected public health and ageing issues.
    7. To assist with the convening of events and meetings.
    8. To make presentations to key audiences in the area of public health and ageing.
    9. To work collaboratively to help improve population health in Ireland North and South.
    10. To represent IPH on relevant outside bodies and events.
    11. To contribute to the promotion of IPH.
    12. To undertake other duties as may be assigned from time to time by your line manager.

    Essential Criteria
    Qualifications
     Degree (Hons)
    Desirable Criteria
     Post Graduate qualification in relevant discipline
    Experience
     At least 2 years recent research experience relevant to this project
     Experience of synthesising different sources of data and research to inform policy and practice
     Experience of producing and preparing reports and/or briefings from research and data
     Experience of programme and /or policy evaluation
    Skills & Knowledge
     Understanding of evaluation models
     Strong research and analytical skills - qualitative and quantitative
     Evidence of excellent communication skills – orally and in writing
     Excellent IT skills e.g. Microsoft Office suite
     Ability to work independently and within a team
     Knowledge of policy context relating to ageing and public health in Ireland North and South
     Knowledge of key data sets relating to ageing and older people in Ireland, North and South
    Personal
     High degree of organisational ability, self-motivation, ability to meet tight deadlines and work flexibly, independently and on own initiative
