    Project description:
Project title: "Quantum dot-based indistinguishable and entangled photon sources at telecom wavelengths".
Project goal is to investigate experimentally possibility of generation indistinguishable photons and entangled photon pairs from epitaxial quantum dots (QDs) integrated into optimized photonic structures emitting at telecom wavelengths (1.3-1.55) µm. These states are crucial for implementation of advanced quantum computation and communication schemes (e.g., quantum repeater) in the NIR in order to bring them closer to practical limits (compatibility with existing fiber networks or silicon photonics). For the project strain-engineered GaAs- and InP-based QDs will be used. To demonstrate and optimize indistinguishability of consecutive photons two-photon interference will be measured. For polarization entanglement biexciton-exciton cascade with external control of fine structure splitting will be tested by cross-correlation measurements in various polarization bases and quantum tomography of two-photon state. The key experiments will be specially set for IR detection.

    Key responsibilities:
    1. Setting a Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer
    2. Determination of and entanglement fidelity and indistinguishability of photons emitted from QD structures
    3. Experimental determination of extraction efficiency from QD-nanophotonic structures
    4. Analysis of the experimental data
    5. Taking part in the interpretation of the experimental results
    6. Preparation of conference abstracts and presentations
    7. Taking part in preparation of the scientific publications.

    Profile of the candidate:
    1. Master degree in Physics or Technical Physics
    2. Knowledge of solid state physics (in particular semiconductors), optics of semiconductors (in particular nanostructures) and quantum optics
    3. Experience in optical spectroscopy of semiconductor nanostructures
    4. Computer skills: Origin, LabView, Matlab/Mathematica or similar package
    5. Fluent in written and spoken English

    We offer/opportunities:
Opportunity to work in a spectroscopy group with many-year experience in spectroscopy, especially at telecom wavelengths. Possibility to realize challenging research tasks targeting up-to-date questions in QD-based non-classical light sources in cooperation with foreign partner (Technical University of Berlin).

    Required documents.
    1. CV
    2. Motivation letter
    3. Recommendation letter from a former supervisor or close collaborator
    4. Copy of MSc diploma or equivalent
    5. List of grades (official transcript) from Master studies (II degree)
    6. Consent regarding processing of personal data*

Selected candidates will be invited to the interview.
