Bathing water classification is critically important to the sustainability of many local communities. Consistent failure of a bathing water will result in its closure, with potentially devastating consequences for a local economy. Reasons for failure, and subsequent remediation, are often complex and are compounded by a poor understanding of the pollution streams that contribute to non-compliance. While local authorities readily identify problem bathing waters as part of their monitoring protocols during a bathing season, they often lack the resources and technical know-how to identify, and most importantly, quantify the sources and fate of pollution.
The multidisciplinary Acclimatize project seeks to provide this evidence base for Dublin, the capital of Ireland. The project is underpinned by an integrated approach to coastal zone management and the successful applicant will be required to develop, calibrate and validate an integrated hydrodynamic model of Dublin Bay and its urban and rural catchments.

Salary: €36,489 - €42,181 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
