AFBI is seeking to fill a key scientific position which will provide a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative scientist to lead and manage the crop plant health team which undertakes testing for bacterial, viral and fungal pathogens of arable crops and grasses.
Leading a nationally recognised postgraduate research team you will be responsible for the provision, forward planning, and expansion of statutory diagnostic and advisory services within AFBI, developing strategic management initiatives, maintaining high standards of corporate governance, budget planning and control and staff management.
With a PhD in a scientific discipline related to agriculture or plant science, you will have at least two years’ experience of working in plant pathology, plant virology, plant bacteriology or plant nematology and a proven track record in winning and managing a funded research project.
