The position
How would you like to work with state-of-the-art tools and interesting projects? We’re looking for a Postdoc to join the Lamers laboratory. Our research focuses on two closely related essential cellular processes: DNA replication and translesion DNA synthesis, with the aim to create a complete and detailed description of all the steps in these processes.
Your profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague who recently obtained their PhD degree. You should have a background in biochemistry and/or structural biology and a drive to answer important and fundamental biomedical questions. A background in DNA replication and/or DNA repair is helpful but not essential.
What we offer
You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. The appointment is for the duration of the project (2 years) with the possibility for extension. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience with a maximum of € 4,194 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 10, CLA for University Hospitals).
The organisation
The LUMC is a center for medical innovation that aims to improve patient care through leading international research. So as to also provide our patients with a safe and friendly environment, we need doctors, medical care specialists, support staff and academic researchers. Our research fits seamlessly into and communicates with other research that takes part at different departments of the LUMC. The Lamers group is also part of a pan-european consortium, in which different research groups study DNA mismatch repair and transcription coupled repair (see
http://www.dnarepairman.eu). Finally, the LUMC has the most advanced equipment for molecular biology research and cryo-EM studies and is closely associated with the Netherland Center for Cryo-Electron Nanospectroscopy (NeCEN) that is equipped with two Titan Krios microscopes.
