The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,056 - £41,163 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

A Research Associate appointment is available at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at UCL, a world-leading academic and research institution.
The post holder will contribute to an exciting research programme in Dr Christopher Stefan’s laboratory investigating membrane trafficking pathways, organelle cross talk and dynamics, and their regulation by phosphoinositide kinase signaling networks.
The position is funded from January 2018 for three years in the first instance.

The successful candidate must have obtained a post-graduate degree (PhD) and demonstrated capability of conducting first-class research in Molecular Cell Biology. Experience in the use of yeast and mammalian tissue culture cells and an exceptional track record in productive research in cell biology are encouraged to apply.

The appointee should have interests in organelle dynamics, membrane trafficking pathways, and the role of phosphoinositide kinase signaling in regulating these processes. Experience and knowledge of mechanisms involved the control of organelle dynamics, inter-organelle cross talk, and organelle homeostasis (eg autophagy and ER stress responses) is particularly relevant. Expertise in cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology and genetics will be essential, with additional experience in advanced live cell imaging techniques and electron microscopy. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in communication, enthusiasm, a track record of good collaboration, and a publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals.
