The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be Grade 7 £34,056 - £41,163 per annum/Grade 8 £42,304 - £49,904 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Research Associate in an internationally leading research centre in medical image computing and image-guided interventions.
The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance, and is available immediately.
The aim of the research is to develop novel software-based technologies for guiding minimally invasive surgery. The role is widely scoped with opportunities to enhance the capabilities of our laparoscopic liver surgery system, and to deliver a new platform for clinical molecular imaging.
Experience in the design, development and validation of surgical software and guidance systems, strong collaborative software engineering skills using languages such as C++, and a record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed academic journals are essential.
Experience with relevant open source software toolkits, such as ITK and MITK, GPU programming using CUDA or OpenCL and working closely with clinicians in a hospital environment, are highly desirable but not essential. Applicants must have a PhD, or expect to receive the award of PhD before the post is taken up or have equivalent experience and must also be able to demonstrate strong mathematical and problem solving skills.
