A Grade-6 Research Associate position is available in the group of Professors Andrew Godkin and Awen Gallimore (Division of Infection & Immunity, The School of Medicine). Research conducted by the team examines the impact of different T cell subsets on the progression of colorectal cancer.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant and well-funded research environment, which includes established investigators, clinicians, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students. Current activities within the laboratory span bench-to-bedside combining investigative model systems with observational studies in patients with cancer, resulting in clinical studies for the testing of new immunotherapeutic interventions.
Specifically, with funding from Cancer Research Wales, the successful applicant will contribute to a project identifying novel tumour antigens, testing for immunogenicity, and potentially exploiting them for the design of more effective cancer immunotherapies. Your role will involve isolation and culture of primary lymphocytes from whole blood and tissue samples for downstream immunological analyses, including flow cytometry, ELISpot / Fluorospot, immunohistochemistry and Luminex multiplex assays. You should also be willing to consent and take blood from patients and healthy donors (full training will be provided).
Applicants should provide evidence of expertise in immunology, oncology, cell biology and molecular biology and have an understanding of related approaches. For further information, prospective candidates should contact Professor Awen Gallimore (
