Research on both chromatin biology and haematopoiesis at the University of Edinburgh has expanded dramatically over the last few years and became one of the strongest in the UK in these two fields. This postdoc position will be under the supervision of investigators based on new buildings based on three campuses of the University: Douglas Vernimmen / David Hume at The Roslin Institute (Easter Bush Campus, opened in 2011), Chris Ponting at the MRC Human Genetics Unit (HGU, part of the IGMM, Western General Hospital Campus, opened in 2015), and Kamil Kranc at The MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine (MRC CRM, Little France Campus, opened in 2011).
These investigators are now recruiting a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join their dynamic and enthusiastic research groups for a multidisciplinary project covering molecular biology (Doug Vernimmen), cell biology (Kamil Kranc) and computational biology (Chris Ponting).
This multidisciplinary project will focus on polycomb pathways of haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) functions and the role of these pathways in leukaemic stem cell behaviour. We intend to utilise this knowledge in the development of epigenetic therapy targeting leukaemic stem cells.
The applicants should have PhD in life sciences and expertise in mouse genetics, cell & molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as semi-independently are crucial.
The appointment will be for 3 years in the first instance and is available immediately.
