The Institute for Communication Systems is seeking to recruit a full time Research Fellow, for 18 Months. The work is funded through the Innovation Gateway project at the 5G Innovation Centre.
For this opening, the successful candidate will be required to have research experience in University and/or Industry environments. Their areas of specialisation should be in the field of communications software design and development for Network Communications Infrastructure.
For this opening, the successful applicant will be required to have experience in the general area of Communications networks. Good analytical, simulation and software development skills are essential. Previous research/development experience in Communications, Networking and distributed software architectures will be essential. Applicants are expected to be proactive, to support other researchers and to be self-motivated. Applicants will be expected to:-
•Carry out Communications Network software research and development work associated with the 5G Test Bed to develop the University network capabilities to expand its activity with industry partners and other research institutions over the coming years.
•Ensure that system simulation elements of the 5G Test Bed are “future-proofed” to facilitate future development in line with the likely rapid evolution of 5G technology
•Take ownership of modules of software development in order to support the research validation program for the 5GIC test-bed, at the university.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in communications or electronic engineering, in computer science or another related discipline and a proven track record in working in research and development of communications network infrastructure.
You will join an established research institute within the EE department with a large scale wireless testbed for experimental proof of concept, excellent computing and software infrastructure for first class research, modern facilities and close links with industry through the 5G Innovation Centre.
