Do you want to use your skills, knowledge and experience to help improve the welfare of farm animals and the sustainability of our global food system? Are you a team player, with the ability to take academic knowledge and translate it for use by different audiences (think a cross between a research team for lobbyists/a small University department!) Could you be the voice of farm animals as well as representing Compassion on the world stage in a number of fora such as academic, policy and civil society meetings? If so, this could be the role for you.
Compassion in World Farming is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change, and positive engagement with the global food industry. The goal of the Science and Education team is to maintain and develop Compassion as a Centre of Excellence of Animal Welfare and Sustainability (as it relates to livestock production) and use science as a lever for change in helping to end factory-farming. We support a truly International organization with offices and projects in Europe, North America and China.
The Scientific Officer/Manager (Sustainability) is a vital role within Compassion supporting the flagship Farmageddon campaign. The right candidate will bring dynamism, scientific rigour and a broad knowledge-base while specializing in global environmental issues and sustainable development, ideally as they relate to livestock. A good knowledge of farm animal welfare (or a willingness/capacity to learn) is essential along with a problem-solving, ‘can-do’ attitude. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farm animal welfare within a dynamic team and influential organisation.
Compassion in World Farming is located in bright, modern offices; just 2 minutes walk from Godalming mainline station (45 minutes from London Waterloo). Please visit our website for full job descriptions.
