Post-doctoral Research Fellowship (Part-time; 50%): database development

    Research Fellow (Developer)
    £31,342 - £37,394 (pro rata for 17.5hrs per week)

This post is an important part of a project in the University's Synthetic Biology Research Centre, and will forge a new link between synthetic biology and pharmacology. Located in Prof Jamie Davies' lab (George Square site), the post-holder will work on a project to create a new section of the www.guidetopharmacology.org database, to highlight drug-responsive elements of proteins that might be added to other proteins to confer synthetic drug control. The post requires a degree in biological or biomedical sciences and a postgraduate qualification in bioinformatics, with knowledge of programming languages including Java, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and experience using relational databases and writing SQL queries. A PhD level education would be an advantage.

This part-time position is closely related to the part-time lab-based position Research Fellow - Synbiol/ Inverse pharmacology (Ref: 032914) and the positions could be combined to one full-time position for a suitable candidate.
