1. Profile of Prof. Zhiwen Zhu
Prof. Zhiwen Zhu is the Head of Department of Civil Engineering and Smart Cities at Shantou University. His research focuses on bridge and structural engineering. He serves as council member of several committees, including the Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, Bridge and Structure Branch of China Highway and Transportation Society, Bridge and Steel Construction Branch of China Steel Construction Society, Fatigue and Stability Branch of China Steel Construction Society, as well as the Chinese Association of Metal Structures. He has published more than 150 papers on international journals with high reputation, and has been listed multiple times in World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.
Over the years, Prof. Zhu has been in charge of six project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and one sub-program of National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 program). As the principal investigator, his work has provided effective supports to many engineering projects. Prof Zhu’s group at Shantou University consists of graduate students doing master or doctoral degree, as well as postdoc fellows working in the civil engineering.

1) Wind-induced response of engineering structures in coastal city.
2) Steel bridge, steel-concrete composite structural.
3) Seismic design and control of bridges in strong ground motion area.
4) Ultra-high performance concrete, new civil engineering material and structures.
5) Application of AI, big data, machine learning, etc, in civil engineering.
3. Application Eligibility
1) Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics) or related topics.
2) Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or as a doctorand) in related field and under the age of 35.
3) Applicants should have good physical and psychological health.
4) This is a full-time position.
5) Applicants should be familiar with Mechanics and be proficient in Technical and English writing.
4.Salary and Benefits
1) Base Annual Salary: 280,000 RMB per year (pre-tax)
2)National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Program: An additional 40,000 RMB will be added to the annual salary upon successful award.
3)NSFC General Program: An additional 80,000 RMB will be added to the annual salary upon successful award.
4)Research Achievement Rewards: Postdoctoral researchers are eligible for the university's research achievement bonuses for scientific outputs generated during their appointment.
