    The Institute for Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology is pleased to announce a postdoctoral position available for one + three years (1+3 years) which we wish to fill as soon as possible. The salary scale for this position is EG 13 TV-L aligning with the German collective labour agreement (indicative gross monthly salary range is €4,188.00 - €6,037.00 depending on experience). This opportunity is suitable for part-time work and is crafted as a qualification position for early career postdocs. However, we encourage outstanding candidates, including those without a PhD, to explore the opportunity to pursue a doctorate at Clausthal University of Technology.

    The Institute for Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology has a strong application focus in Research and Teaching. The working group Digitalisation in Materials Science and Engineering has a focus on biologic, architectured materials and engineered living materials. The prospective candidate should strengthen this area strategically so that we seek a candidate with a background or interest in biological tissues.

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • In year one, the successful candidate will support development of an EU consortium application. This includes the opportunity to start up their own research along an existing project which will commence in full from year two onwards with research in the following areas:
    1: Microfluidic devices,
    2: Biofabrication,
    3: Bioprinting.

    • Publication of research results in international journals.
    • Presentation of research results at international conferences.
    • Support for teaching in an area related to the research topic(s).
    • Support of general processes of the institute such as administrative procedures as well as conceptual and strategic tasks and questions.
    • This position is embedded in a strategic collaboration with partners from European and Australian institutions. Therefore, the position offers the opportunity for lab-visits abroad if this is of interest.

    Your profile:

    • Successful completion of a degree programme (M.Sc., diploma or equivalent) in either (bio)materials science, (bio)physics, (bio) chemistry, biomedical engineering, biology, or a similar subject.
    • A doctorate in the context of the research fields mentioned above is desirable. Excellent applicants without a doctorate will be offered the opportunity to do a doctorate at Clausthal University of Technology.
    • Experience with biofabrication in the context of the above-mentioned research areas is desirable.
    • Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension. This can be illustrated, for example, by first own publications, generated IP, or similar.
    • Good written and spoken English and, if necessary, willingness to acquire German language skills.

    Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). The TV-L provides for a special annual payment at the end of the year. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension scheme in the form of a company pension (VBL).
