Postdoctoral position in computational materials physics

A postdoctoral position in computational materials physics is available immediately under the supervision of Professors Laurent Karim Béland (Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Queens University, Kingston, Canada) and Normand Mousseau (Département de physique at Université de Montréal, Montreal, Canada). The general interests of the group include disordered, nuclear and complex materials, in particular their structural and dynamical properties, with an important focus on algorithmic development.

The project aims for a complete restructing and rewriting of the code kinetic ART, an on-the-fly off-lattice kinetic Monte Carlo technique, in order to better integrate machine-learning and multiscale approaches within a more modern structure to facilitate its use, in particular, by the nuclear industry. Mixing topological analysis with the activation-relaxation technique, kinetic ART is uniquely able to study the long-term of complex materials. It is currently used by tens of groups around the world. For recent work on this and related problems, please consult http://normandmousseau.com/en

The candidate should be well versed in atomistic simulations and have extensive experience in programming and code development.

The selected candidate is expected to start as soon as possible. Interested candidates should send a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a list of at least three references with phone and e-mail addresses to Yaoting Zhang, PhD (Yaoting.Zhang#ATqueensu.ca ) (replace #AT with @)

Review of the applications will start on May 1st and will continue until a suitable candidate is found. Only applications meeting the above criteria will be acknowledged.
