Postdoctoral Scientist - Structural Studies - Dr Tanmay Bharat - LMB 2248

    Postdoctoral Scientist
    Salary £37,500 per annum
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK

We are recruiting a computational postdoctoral researcher to devise and implement exciting new ways of predicting and designing inhibitors against pathogenic bacterial drug targets using in situ electron cryotomography (cryo-ET) data, computational methods, machine learning (ML) and molecular dynamics simulations.

The new two-year position will be located at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) and AstraZeneca (AZ) in Cambridge, UK within the group of Tanmay Bharat (LMB), working in collaboration with the groups of Juan Carlos Mobarec and Maria Flocco at AZ as part of the LMB/AZ Blue Sky collaboration (www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/research/blue-sky-collaboration).

You should have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within 6 months, with a strong background in either computational biology, computational chemistry, computational structural biology, computer science, or ML/AI. The goal of the project is to predict inhibitor binding sites on bacterial drug targets and computationally design improved variants, ideal for a translation-minded scientist. There will be opportunities to perform experiments in the laboratory or learn cryo-ET, depending on interests of the candidate.

For further information please contact Tanmay Bharat ([email protected]) or visit the group's website: https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/groups/bharat/
