You will optimise and develop methods in the field of RNA binding proteins in plants, specifically targeting those proteins that are hijacked by plant viruses.

In the Geuten Lab (geutenlab.com) we use biochemical and genetic techniques to find leads for improvement of cereal crops. In addition to crop species, we use the model system Brachypodium, related to the cereals, to understand how grasses interact with their biotic and abiotic environment. The lab also creates a learning environment for postdocs, PhD students, Master and Bachelor students. The Geuten lab is part of the Department of Biology at the University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium.
