    Your Commitment
    The College of Health Sciences invites applications for Midwifery faculty at Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer and Clinical Instructor ranks.
    Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of a broad range of courses within the midwifery domain. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area. Faculty members will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.

    Qualifications
    Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. The broad criteria are noted below.

    For Assistant Professor
    Education
    -A PhD or Doctorate in Midwifery or in a health-related field. Those whose PhD or Doctorate is not in midwifery must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in midwifery.
    -All candidates must hold registration as a midwife and be in good standing with the regulatory body.

    Experience
    -Demonstrated record of academic experience and midwifery practice.
    -Experience in teaching midwifery at a post-secondary institution.
    -A minimum of five (5) years full-time equivalent recent clinical practice experience.
    -Demonstrated ability to use diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
    -Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
    Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.
    -Consideration will be given to candidates who have: mentored/preceptored midwifery students during practice practicums; and/or, a minimum of eight (8) years full-time equivalent of clinical midwifery experience.

    Scholarship and Research
    Demonstrated accomplishment in advancement or contributions to health-related knowledge through applied research and publication and knowledge dissemination.
    Preference given to candidates with demonstrated contribution to curriculum development and to teaching and learning.

    For Senior Lecturer and Lecturer
    Education
    -A Master’s in Midwifery or in a health-related field. For those whose Master’s is not in midwifery, they must hold an undergraduate degree in midwifery.
    -All candidates must hold registration as a midwife and be in good standing with the regulatory body.

    Experience
    -Experience in teaching midwifery at a post-secondary institution.
    -A minimum of five (5) years full-time equivalent recent clinical practice experience.
    -Demonstrated ability to use diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
    -Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
    -Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.
    -Consideration will be given to candidates who have: mentored/preceptored midwifery students during practice practicums; and/or, a minimum of eight (8) years full-time equivalent of clinical midwifery experience.

    Scholarship and Research
    -Demonstrated performance in scholarship that contributes to the advancement of midwifery practice; advancement of health-related knowledge; and/or, health-related curriculum development and pedagogy.

    For Clinical Instructor
    Education
    -A Master’s in Midwifery is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates who have an undergraduate midwifery degree with at least eight (8) years full-time of current midwifery experience in a clinical setting.
    -All candidates must hold registration as a midwife and be in good standing with the regulatory body.
