Research Associate - Microbiome modulation (fixed term)

The Patil lab at the MRC Toxicology Unit is looking to appoint two motivated researchers to join their team working on ERC funded project on modulation of microbial communities. We are a diverse team of researchers spanning multiple scientific disciplines, including microbiology, metabolomics, mathematical modelling, and bioinformatics.

We are looking for microbial geneticists with experience in bacterial/fungal genetics to join us. The project will focus on investigating microbiome interactions using genetic tools. We are particularly interested in candidates enthusiastic for applying genetic tools for high-throughput screening.

The MRC Toxicology Unit offers excellent research infrastructure and support for personal development. Candidates will be encouraged to bring their own ideas to the project and learn new skills, for example, in metabolomics and data analysis.

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as genetic engineering or molecular biology and have a strong background in microbial genetic engineering. A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals is required.

This post is funded by the ERC for up to two years. Further extension may be possible depending on the availability of funds.

Further information on the Toxicology Unit can be found at (https://www.mrc-tox.cam.ac.uk)

Informal enquiries are invited and can be directed to Kiran R. Patil ([email protected]).

If you have any queries regarding the application process, please contact [email protected].
