Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore
This 9-month Research Assistant post supports the delivery of the ambitions of an INTERREG collaboration between Ireland and Wales which seeks to promote sustainable heritage tourism in coastal upland landscapes. Specifically, the Research Assistant will form part of a Work Package coordinated in UCD School of Geography delivering and supporting the folklore and intangible culture components of this project. The RA will be first be required to provide the comprehensive skills in executing ethnographic, folklore fieldwork of the Wicklow and Blackstairs Mountains. Following on the identification of previous collections of said material in archival repositories in collaboration with Dr Fitzgerald, the RA will then review extant data for these regions, enabling a final selection of suitable areas and/or key activities and beliefs to collect further folklore. Working with project partners, the RA will then carry out ethnographic interviews, photographic material, and drawings. The RSA will then carry out collaborative events with potential local stakeholder/heritage groups.
Fixed salary: €33,427 per annum
