    The Center for Neuromusculoskeletal Restorative Medicine is now inviting applications for the post(s) of Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Associate for (1) conducting translational research on stem cell-based or biomaterial-based therapies for tendon and ligament repair; (2) conducting clinical research for musculoskeletal tissue repair.

    [Position 1]
    Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering or Biology, with relevant research experience, preferably in stem cells biology, tissue engineering or bioengineering in a well-recognised university; (ii) good research skills, such as molecular and cell biology techniques (cell culture, RNA-seq, qPCR, flow cytometry) and/or biomaterial development skills (biomechanical testing, polymer synthesis, polymer characterization); (iii) good publication record; (iv) good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; and (v) the ability to work independently. Experience in characterising and application of extracellular vesicles derived from stem cells for tissue repair, translating stem cell-based products for clinical trials and drafting research proposals will be an advantage. Applicants with an MPhil degree plus four years’ post-qualification relevant experience will be considered for the post of Research Associate(s). With the agreement from the supervisor, the appointee may take the project for his/her PhD research study.

    The appointee(s) will work in both the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Prince of Wales Hospital and the Science Park in Shatin under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Lui. Duties include (a) developing clinical-grade stem cell-based or biomaterial-based products for the treatment of tendon and ligament injuries for future clinical trials; and (b) preparation of grant proposals, research reports and papers.

    Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Clinical Science, Health Science or Public Health in a well-recognised university; (ii) experience in conducting clinical trials, management of clinical database, extracting and analysing data from clinical databases of Hospital Authority and statistical analysis; (iii) good publication record; (iv) good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; (v) the ability to speak Cantonese; and (vi) the ability to work independently. Experience in blood-taking, coordinating and drafting documents for drug trials, and writing research proposals and reports will be an advantage. Applicants with an MPhil degree plus four years’ post-qualification relevant experience will be considered for the post of Research Associate(s). With the agreement from the supervisor, the appointee may take the project for his/her PhD research study.

    The appointee(s) will work in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Lui and Prof. Patrick Yung. Duties include (a) drafting protocols and conducting clinical trials for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries; (b) studying the roles of metabolic disorders on the development and prognosis of tendon and ligament injuries; and (c) preparation of grant proposals, research reports and papers. He/She will be required to work at irregular hours occasionally in clinics for getting consent, clinical samples and performing clinical assessment of patients.
