The Research Group In Vitro Toxicology and Dermato-Cosmetology (IVTD) of the Vrije
Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher (m/f) to
strengthen and coordinate its experimental research aimed at the development of animal-free, human relevant methods for next generation risk assessment of chemicals. This research is part of the Innovation Center-3Rs (IC-3Rs) that supports the development and promotion of alternative methods (inter)nationally.
Job Description
• To carry out your own research project on the development of a (3D) human stem cell-based
in vitro model to assess liver toxicity induced by thyroid hormone disruption.
• To realize international, peer-reviewed scientific articles to be communicated at
(inter)national conferences.
• To present your research results in EU network meetings and prepare scientific reports.
• To assist in the supervision of PhD and Master students and take initiative for new projects
and fundraising.
Profile
• Having a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, (bio)medical sciences, veterinary medicine,
bioengineering, biochemistry or equivalent.
• Having already some experience as a postdoctoral researcher is an asset.
• Liking to work hands-on and eager to develop new techniques.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Being well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Having good computer skills.
• Being creative and have good presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Being proficient in English, both written and spoken. A good knowledge of Dutch and
French is a plus.
The position
• A young, dynamic and stimulating working environment.
• An annually renewable contract as full-time postdoctoral researcher at the VUB for 2 years
with the prospect of a permanent position.
• Anticipated start date: 1 March 2022.
