    Full Time

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 - £41,864 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The project focuses on understanding the engineering fundamentals and mixing underpinning a conjugate vaccine manufacturing process aiming to validate scale-down approaches for vaccine production. The project is funded by Pfizer Inc.

UCL is one of the leading international centres for engineering fundamentals and fluid dynamic characterization applied to bioprocessing. It has excellent research facilities including a new bioprocessing suite of vaccines-dedicated laboratories and a full-scale £25m bioprocessing pilot plant. The post-holder will be part of a team of research associates and PhD students with expertise in mixing and experimental fluid dynamics led by Dr Martina Micheletti.

A new Research Associate position in Mixing and Scale-Down is now available. The position, based initially in Biochemical Engineering at UCL, will address the integration of technologies to optimise scale-up at the partner’s industrial site. There will be a high degree of interaction with UCL colleagues and industrial partners so excellent team-working and communication skills will be required. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking original experimental research, reporting on project progress and the preparation and submission of research papers arising from these and related studies.

This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (Bio/Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering) and ideally possess experience in one or more of the following areas: mixing, fluid dynamics, vaccine process design, scale-up, rheology.
