Postdoctoral Scientist



    We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to join the group of Prof Julian Gough to work on developing, maintaining and championing the SUPERFAMILY database and others. Specifically, to develop infrastructure and web services, to update with new genomic and protein structure data, develop pipelines and new features for the suite of tools and resources published by the group. This will be done in a way that integrates and restructures the underlying databases and pipelines to create a sustainable platform for research within the group and externally by other groups.

    There will be collaborative and outreach activities such as leading the contribution to the InterPro and Genome3D consortia, engaging with user communities, organising workshops and presenting at international conferences.

    You are highly motivated, have a PhD in a relevant subject, and you have an aptitude for computational work and data analysis. This role will suit you if you are excited by the challenge of working on a large and complex system, and/or enjoy the responsibility and the acclaim of being the named leader and champion of an internationally renowned project under your management.

    The successful applicant will be awarded a 3 year Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme. The fellowship is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, or is moving into a new research discipline.
