Applications are invited for a Wellcome Trust-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate post to join the laboratory of Professor Sussan Nourshargh within the Centre for Microvascular Research at William Harvey Research Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The position offers an exciting opportunity for motivated postdoctoral fellows to join a dynamic team of young researchers investigating neutrophil trafficking. Specifically, and building on recent findings from the team (e.g. Girbl et al., Immunity, 2018; Owen-Woods et al., J Clin Invest., 2020; Barkaway et al., Immunity, 2021), the present project aims to enhance our knowledge of the aberrant response of neutrophil reverse transmigration in terms of its pathophysiological relevance, phenotype and molecular signature.
The Centre for Microvascular Research, based on the Charterhouse Square Campus of the Medical School, is an internationally respected hub of vascular and inflammation research, offers newly re-furbished laboratories and a cutting edge microscopy facility. The Charterhouse Square Campus is located in the heart of the City of London in close proximity to the Barbican Art and Music Centre and St Paul’s Cathedral.
We are looking for outstanding, enthusiastic and independent candidates committed to a scientific career with interest in the fields of inflammation, immunity and/or vascular biology. Technical expertise in cutting edge molecular (e.g. RNASeq), confocal microscopy and/or in vivo methodologies would be advantageous. The ability to work in a team is essential. The post is full-time and fixed term for 3 years with a possibility of a further 1 year extension
