We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to study the mechanisms underlying self-renewal and differentiation of trophoblast stem (TS) cells compared to ES cells and other stem cell types. The work will define transcription factor networks and -complexes operating inside and outside the TS cell niche, and how they are regulated by epigenetic mechanisms and signalling pathways to guide placental development.

The candidate will utilise a number of key state-of-the-art technologies (ChIP-Seq, IP and mass spectrometric analysis; stem cell culture and manipulation; generation of mouse models) in this exciting area of stem cell epigenetics and trophoblast biology with important implications for regenerative medicine. The laboratory is internationally recognised in this field and provides an excellent training and research environment for the motivated scientist. For recent relevant publications of the lab see Nat. Rev. Mol. Cell Biol., 10: 526; Nat. Cell Biol. 10: 1280; Placenta, 31: 944; Hum. Mol. Gen., 19: 2456; and PLoS Genetics, 4: e1000116.

Applicants must have a PhD in Genetics, Cell or Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry and a proven track record in research. They must also have profound expertise in molecular biology/genetics ideally including ChIP and IP techniques and in stem cell culture, and at least a working knowledge of epigenetics. Experience in good laboratory practice is also required. Further enquiries on the position may be made to Myriam Hemberger ([email protected]).
