Medical Research Council, Epidemiology Unit
The Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit studies the genetic and environmental determinants of obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders, and the translation of epidemiological findings into preventive action. The MRC Epidemiology Unit is based within the new Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS) building in Cambridge on the Addenbrooke’s site.

We are pleased to offer this new fixed-term (3 years), full-time post located at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. The post holder is expected to contribute to a programme of research on the primary and secondary prevention of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. This will involve further development and supervision of the conduct and analysis of existing projects and initiation of related original research. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary group in Cambridge and will be supervised by Dr Rebecca Simmons (Investigator Scientist).
To be successful, applicants will need to be a post-doctoral scientist in a relevant topic area. This post provides opportunities to develop new research ideas and projects, to work on existing data collected in several population-based observational studies and trials, and to establish collaborative links with colleagues in the MRC and elsewhere.
