The University of Antwerp is seeking to fill the following full time vacancy (m/f) at the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Sciences: post doctoral position in plant physiology / plant biochemistry

The laboratory for Molecular Plant Physiology and Biotechnology (http://www.ua.ac.be/main.aspx?c=.MPB) and the laboratory for Plant and Vegetation Ecology (http://www.ua.ac.be/main.aspx?c=.PLECO), investigate plant growth responses and defense mechanisms to abiotic stress conditions, in current and future climate conditions. We combine molecular, biochemical, physiological and eco-physiological approaches to understand the mechanisms of plant responses to stress and the effect of a changing climate on these responses. More specifically, in the frame of this project, we study the role of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on heat stress responses in Arabidopsis thaliana, under ambient and elevated CO2. The available position is funded by the European Science Foundation, in the EUROVOL program.

    Profile and requirements:
    - You are committed to give the best of yourself.
    - You hold a doctoral degree in plant biology, and have excellent knowledge of plant physiology and plant biochemistry. Experience with plant stress responses, and/or plant organic volatiles are a strong asset.
    - You have a strong scientific CV, and have good writing skills.

We offer a full-time position as a post doctoral fellow starting with a one year contract which can be extended to up to 3 years depending on the performance.
If you are interested, sent your application and CV to Han Asard at [email protected].
