The Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK and supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute has recently moved to a new facility that provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on imaging and proteomics.

The Molecular Cell Biology laboratory has focussed on the involvement of Rho GTPase signalling pathways in cancer, with the ultimate goal of identifying critical elements that could be targeted with small molecule inhibitors for the treatment of cancer. In this Cancer Research UK funded project, you will be involved in screening tumour cell lines to determine genetic contexts or conditions of synthetic lethality that sensitize cancer cells to LIM kinase inhibition, and screening for synergistic drug combinations of LIM kinase inhibitors with chemotherapeutic agents that could be translated to eventual clinical application.

A relevant PhD is essential and experience in molecular biology/biochemistry would be an advantage.

Applications for the above posts should be sent with CV and names of three referees to Michael Olson ([email protected]) at The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Garscube Estate, Switchback Road, Bearsden, Glasgow, G61 1BD, UK.
