This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse, Allied Healthcare Professional, or a graduate with experience in clinical research to join the South East Stroke Research Network (SE SRN). This has been set up as part of the UK Stroke Research Network and its aim is to facilitate and increase the throughput of clinical trials and other high quality studies in all areas of stroke including acute care, prevention and rehabilitation. SE SRN is one of eight networks throughout the UK.

King’s College Hospital has been successful in securing additional funding for a Hyperacute Stroke Research Unit (HASU) which, with our comprehensive research infrastructure combined with the full range of Neuroscience expertise in the Regional Neuroscience Centre, will enable us participate in a wide range of hyperacute and acute research studies. Due to this expansion we have created an opportunity for a Lead Stroke Research Co-ordinator who will have four main elements to their role:

    • Service delivery and development in partnership with the clinical lead
    • Line management responsibilities for the current stroke research team
    • Clinical Research Responsibilities – to work autonomously recruiting patients to stroke portfolio trials at King’s. The post-holder will also be expected to participate in weekend research cover at King’s on a rota basis. At present the post holder is expected to work 1 in 4 weekends (9:00 to 16:00) and will receive 2 days off per month in lieu.
    • Staff Education and Training – to be responsible for both clinical stroke training and research training for the research team at King’s. To participate in additional stroke research training to clinical teams and at regional network meetings as required.

The post holder will also oversee the TRACS study completion and administrative closure at centres in London and the South East. The post is funded for 18 months.
