The Sustainable Environment Research Centre (SERC) has received from ERDF funding for the project CymruH2Wales. Total project value is £6.3M. As a clean energy carrier, hydrogen can play a major role in the transition to a low carbon economy. In support of Welsh Assembly Government policy, the project which will support this post aims to develop new hydrogen energy processes, products and services. The project addresses many of the central aspects in the development of hydrogen related systems, energy technologies and seeks to establish Welsh jobs in this important new energy industry.
One of the work packages funded within the project (WP5) aims to further to develop and optimise purification processes for hydrogen and other product gases. In addition, it aims to develop and demonstrate at laboratory scale a low carbon process for the conversion of surplus organic material and fermentation intermediates to higher value chemicals and fibers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a researcher to join a leading team and a great opportunity to support the research and development of processes for the recovery, separation and clean up of gases produced during the biohydrogen fermentation, anaerobic digestion and other industrial processes and how these processes can be integrated with end use technologies.
