Post Doc Researcher on Ultrahigh Resolution Retinal Imaging

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position on ultrahigh resolution in-vivo retinal imaging at UCD Dublin. A scanning laser ophthalmoscope will be constructed and equipped with adaptive optics for wavefront correction to allow ultrahigh resolution fovea imaging. Prior experience in visual optics, adaptive optics and/or confocal microscopy will be advantageous but is not a requirement. The project is financed by Enterprise Ireland (http://www.enterprise-ireland.com/) and is initially for one year with a possible extension for three more years. The position will start as soon as possible (preferably in November 2008). The expected net salary is in the range of 2600-2800 Euro/Month.

The post-doc will be based in the School of Physics at University College Dublin within the newly established Advanced Optical Imaging Group. The research will be carried out in collaboration with Dr Brian Vohnsen (http://www.ucd.ie/physics/preston/staff_37038737.html). This research group forms part of the NanoBio research area within University College Dublin (http://www.ucd.ie/engscience/nano/home.html).

Dublin is an attractive city located near the sea and backed by the wild Irish nature. It is known for its famous authors (Oscar Wilde, James Joyce), rock bands (U2, Sinead O’Connor), Guinness pints, and modern Irish and Ethnic cuisine. Please send Curriculum Vitae and a complete list of publications directly to Dr Brian Vohnsen ([email protected]). The position remains open until filled.
