    The TIA/UFS Research Platform at the University of the Free State (UFS) is offering Postdoctoral fellowships to exceptional accomplished young and emerging researchers to conduct fulltime research in bacterial diversity and environmental bioremediation. The selected candidates will reflect the University's equity and diversity imperatives, including those for gender, racial/cultural and intellectual diversity. There are currently 4 post-doctoral fellows appointed in the research group.

    The research funding of this fellowship is of outstanding value (details available on request) due to the nature of these cross-disciplinary collaborative efforts. The fellowship is renewable for a second year depending on satisfactory progress within UFS system as well as external evaluations.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
    •Fellowships are open to South African and foreign nationals for full-time research at the University if the Free State.
    •The minimum requirement is a PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline.
    •Demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics and Bioremediation is highly favored.
    •Successful applicants will demonstrate exceptional academic performanc and intellectual potential.
    •Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis, taking into account the applicants' academic achievements, publication outputs and research potential.
    •Successful applicants will demonstrate potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge in their future academic career.
    •Successful applicants may not hold full-time salaried employment during the tenure of the award.

    REQUIREMENTS
    •Completed application form and checklist
    •Motivation letter, articulating the applicant’s career ambitions and scholarly motivation, as well as details of her/his major scholarly/ academic accomplishments to date
    •Full Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of all research publications.
    •Full transcripts of academic record.
    •Copy of Doctoral degree certificate.
    •Copy of ID document (copy of passport in the case of non-South African applicants)
