Postdoctoral Research Associate Grade 7

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the new Receptor Dynamics in Cancer Group led by Dr Mark Morgan. The primary focus of the group is to determine how tumour and stromal ¬cells sense, interpret and respond to their extracellular microenvironment in cancer. We are particularly interested in how adhesion and growth factor receptor signalling and trafficking are integrated to drive cancer progression. You will aim to delineate the molecular mechanisms that promote breast cancer invasion and cellular responses to molecular therapeutics. You will employ novel proteomic strategies to define the dynamic signalling networks recruited to pro-invasive integrins, syndecans and receptor tyrosine kinases in breast cancer cells. Using these findings, you will use a range of live-cell, organotypic and in vivo imaging techniques to determine the impact of key regulatory mechanisms on the cellular processes that drive invasion. You should have a PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology or other relevant field with experience of cellular and/or molecular experimental techniques. Experience in proteomics, live-cell confocal microscopy or models of cancer invasion is desirable. The post is available for 3 years.
