Senior Research Associate : REVQUAL: Resolving Visual Quality for Media Communications and Information Processing Group



    The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 8. The salary will be £42,604 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

    We wish to recruit a Senior Research Associate to work on a project investigating the research and development of cloud-computing technologies for visual quality estimation of digital video streams. The work is a collaboration between UCL and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and Film London and supported by the UK Technology Strategy Board.

    The post holder will be required to carry out research in the area of multimedia service provisioning on cloud-computing infrastructures, including design and usage of tools for full-reference or partial-reference objective quality assessment and writing up the results (as part of a research team).
    The appointment is available from 1st October 2014 for a period of 12 months in the first instance.

    The post holder will require a PhD in a computer science, electronic or electrical engineering or physical sciences subject, or similar experience demonstrated via publications in international journals or conferences, plus a Masters-level qualification in these disciplines. A track record of publications in most or all of the areas of: software engineering, multimedia systems and cloud computing services (Amazon AWS or similar) is desirable. Some experience of database development (e.g. relational and NoSQL) and system administration is desirable.
