    About the Centre
The ARC Training Centre for Green Chemistry in Manufacturing is an interdisciplinary research and training environment focused on green and sustainable chemistry. The Centre, comprising of university, industry, government authorities and key industry bodies, aims to transform and revitalise Australian Manufacturing through the adoption of green and sustainable chemical technologies.
The Centre has four nodes including: Monash University in Melbourne, Deakin University in Geelong, Flinders University in Adelaide and Curtin University in Perth. The Centre will:
    • Develop industry ready PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows with strong experience in the theory and practice of green and sustainable chemistry
    • Provide postgraduate researchers and post-doctoral fellows with industry relevant skills, capabilities and strategies that will give them the confidence to lead the transition of the Australian Manufacturing Industry
    • Exploit key knowledge in green chemistry to develop novel products and processes with commercial applicability
    • Bring together industry, researchers and associations to lead a four-year program developing a high quality, industry relevant cohort and network of graduates and researchers
    • Train the existing workforce to help drive a vibrant modern and sustainable Australian Manufacturing Industry
The Centre has 3 key research themes
    • Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing
    • Bioprocessing
    • Products from Renewable Biomass

    About the Positions
We have three post- doctoral positions available, one at of Monash University focussed on products from renewable biomass; Deakin University focussed on bioprocessing and Flinders University focussed on advanced sustainable manufacturing. Whilst your research will be focussed on a key theme, you will have input into the other research themes in the Centre. The positions are supported by the Australian Research Council’s Industrial Transformation Training Centre program (IC190100034) with funding for 4 years.

    Duties of the positions
The successful candidates are expected to undertake and lead research into the application of the principles of green chemistry to the manufacture of new products and processes. Applicants with strong backgrounds in synthesis, polymer chemistry, natural products, bioprocessing and biotechnology and good knowledge and skills in analysis will be preferred. As well as having their own research program, the post-doctoral researchers will also support the PhD researchers at their node, and will be expected to assist specific industry partnered projects as required.
    Required Selection Criteria
Completion of an Australian doctoral degree (of equivalent foreign doctoral degree) in chemistry or a closely related discipline. Applicants with strong backgrounds in synthesis, polymer chemistry, natural products, bioprocessing and biotechnology and good knowledge and skills in chemical analysis will be preferred.
If, for any reason, you have taken a career break or have had an atypical career and wish to disclose this in your application, the selection committee will take this into account, recognizing that the quantity of your research may be reduced as a result. It is imperative that the candidate can demonstrate good communication skills in oral and written English.

    Preferred selection Criteria
    • Experience related to the research themes as outlined in the website tcgcm.com.au
