      Dr. C. Ross Ethier

The Ethier lab at Georgia Tech/Emory Biomedical Engineering seeks a postdoctoral fellow in the area of ocular biomechanics.
The position is NASA–funded, and involves biomechanical modeling of ocular structures involved in VIIP syndrome (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/the-mysterious-syndrome-impairing-astronauts-eyesight/2016/07/09/f20fb9a6-41f1-11e6-88d0-6adee48be8bc_story.html). Specific duties include: extracting relevant information from clinical images; integrating an ocular biomechanical model with a whole-body fluid shift model being developed at NASA; analyzing experimental and numerical results; writing papers; and assisting with grant preparation. The position is available immediately, for a duration of approximately two years. Applicants should have: a PhD in biomechanics or closely related field; experience with medical image processing; experience with finite element modeling of connective tissue biomechanics; experience with construction of complex geometric models for finite element modeling; experience with tissue constitutive relationships. Interest and willingness to participate in an interdisciplinary research team is essential.

To apply for the position, please contact Prof. C. Ross Ethier, [email protected], via email using the subject: NASA Post-Doc. Applicants must include, as a single pdf file, a cover letter with a short statement of purpose, a full resume, and names of three references.
