2 year Postdoc scholarship in Inorganic Physical Chemistry

    Project description
The postdoctoral scholarship research will focus on the solution chemistry of metal oxides, in particular polyoxometalates, using experimental and computational methods. Of particular interest are measurements of kinetics of ligand exchange reactions on paramagnetic centres using NMR spectroscopy, effects of protonation and ion pairing in metal oxide clusters, and computational modeling of fundamental reactions in discrete metal oxide clusters. See http://www.ohlinlab.eu for more information about our research.

    Skills and experience
You must hold a PhD degree, or a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent in Chemistry or a closely related field. To be eligible you must have completed your PhD degree before the starting date of the scholarship period and a maximum of three years before the application deadline unless special circumstances exist. To be successful with your application you should have experience in physical inorganic chemistry; additionally, extensive experience of NMR spectroscopy and skills in computational chemistry are desirable. Programming skills, in particular in Python and MATLAB/GNU Octave, and familiarity with Linux will be look upon favourably.

You must also be able to conduct research independently as well as in a team, be self-motivated and diligent, and enthusiastic about pursuing new science.

Finally you must have a very good command of English, and be able to write scientific manuscripts and reports in English. As a senior member of the Ohlin group you are expected to engage with researchers within and outside the group, and share in the development of the laboratory.

The fellowship lasts a fixed term of two years and starts in September 2017, or at a mutually agreed upon date. The stipend is SEK 270,000 p.a and funded by the Kempe Foundation
