    The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7/8. The salary range will be Grade 7 £34,056 - £41,163 per annum Grade 8 £42,304 - £49,904 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

    The Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Surgical and Interventional Sciences at UCL invites applications for Medical Physics and Biophotonics Engineering Research Associates and Senior Research Associates with experience in surgical and interventional sciences. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Researchers / Engineers with relevant skills in this area to join an internationally leading research group. The Centre mission is to translate developments from flagship research projects into clinical tools and bring the duration to first-in-human clinical studies under 5 years.
    The appointment is available from 1 May 2017 and is funded for 2 years in the first instance.

    In our System Integration innovation support theme, we require engineers with in-depth mechanical, materials, electronics, mechatronics or optoelectronics engineering expertise, and capabilities in system integration.
    For our three fundamental research themes (Physiological Navigation - Clinician Experience - Precision Instrumentation), we require researchers/engineers with a broad set of technical expertise underpinning the Centre’s mechatronics platforms and research aspirations. More specifically, we seek applications from researchers / precision instrumentation engineers with expertise in interventional imaging, robotics/instrumentation, and sensing applications.

    To be appointed at Grade 8 (Senior Research Associate) candidates must be able to demonstrate experience leading a team of researchers and have some evidence of being invited to present at international conferences. An excellent publication record is necessary, while experience of serving on peer-review committees would be desirable.
    The Appointees will have a strong mathematical and/or engineering background and relevant experience in one or more research areas listed within the person specification.
