The role will carry out research and development on the application of ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy and optical imaging to gain mechanistic insights into a wide range of different material systems.

CLF is a world-class centre for research in physical and life sciences, housing some of the most intense lasers in the world, while RCaH is a multidisciplinary laboratory that provides facilities for researchers to undertake new and cutting edge scientific research.

    Responsibilities will include:
    • working with a team of scientists from Johnson Matthey and RCaH to develop the applications of non-linear Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging techniques
    • collaborating between CLF, RCaH and Johnson Matthey in the design and performance of experiments
    • supporting and encouraging science programmes within CLF and the wider Harwell Campus with an emphasis on industrial applications and commercial engagement
    • designing and running experiments, acquisition and analysis of data and publishing and disseminating results in science journals and conferences.
