An opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Anti-Inflammatory Therapeutic Peptide Development. You will join a team of researchers developing a number of novel anti-inflammatory therapeutic peptides called evasins that we have identified from tick saliva. You will analyse the data from these experiments and present them internally (group meetings) and externally (scientific papers and conferences).
Working under the guidance of Professor Shoumo Bhattacharya, the post offers a unique opportunity to develop a skill set and research profile in the field of anti-inflammatory therapeutic peptide development in cardiovascular and other diseases, with opportunities for networking and collaborating with local and international research groups of outstanding reputation.
You should hold a PhD (by the time of appointment to the post) in Pharmacology, Chemical Biology or Biochemistry or other relevant discipline. You will also need to have experience with protein expression and purification, biophysical analysis of proteins (e.g. Kd determination), cell culture and cell based assays. Experience with molecular biology technology including E.coli, plasmid design & construction, cloning, PCR, mutagenesis is also essential.
This 3 year post is based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford and you would be expected to start on 1st June 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
