We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Clinical Research Fellow, who has an interest in advanced clinical and/or translational Cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) imaging, to drive an exciting research programme focused on the development and validation of new technologies that allow non-invasive detection of coronary inflammation and vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques. Both junior fellows starting a DPhil and senior fellows will be considered for this post.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinical cardiologists, clinician scientists, radiologists, radiographers and engineers, and will have the opportunity to translate new applications coming from the basic science labs of the group directly into clinical diagnostic tools. You will be expected to interact closely with the Engineering Department in Oxford as well as with the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research, industrial partners and an international network of experts in the field of cardiovascular CT. You will take part in the academic activity of the Department, e.g. contributing to scientific meetings, presentations and working collaboratively to help to realise the ambitious research programme that is underway.

You will hold a primary medical degree together with (or be eligible to obtain) GMC registration. You will have proven relevant experience in cardiovascular CT (clinical or translational), evidence of excellent communication and organisational skills and sufficient leadership and personal skills to effectively undertake the role of clinical fellow in a large teaching hospital.

The post is funded by the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and is available from the 1st April 2017 for 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of a further 2 years depending on the fellow’s circumstances and productivity. You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital under the direct supervision of Prof Charalambos Antoniades.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online; you will be required to upload a supporting statement and a copy of your CV as part of your online application.
